Suffolk Juniors take part in Bayern Munich International
Last Saturday, Suffolk and Essex juniors joined forces to play for a combined East Anglian Junior Chess team, representing the UK, in Bayern Munich’s annual “Checkmate to Racism” international event.
Bayern Munich’s chess club has written a full report about this very special and unique event.
The eventual winners of the team event were the Suriname Chess Academy; Suriname is the smallest country in size and population in South America!
The East Anglian team did brilliantly, finishing in 4th place out of a total of 27 teams worldwide.
In the team event, Suffolk’s juniors performed strongly and above their own Elo ratings:
| Player | Tournament points | Performance |
|---|---|---|
| Oganesson123nitrogen | 14 | 1385 |
| AbleLopsidedGiraffe | 13 | 1827 |
| talllennyh1 | 10 | 1663 |
