Nine tournaments in Suffolk
International Master (IM) and Suffolk Junior Coach, Dagne Ciuksyte, is organising nine chess events in Suffolk, all suitable for junior players of all abilities.
School Tournaments – New!
Chess tournaments for schools to enter (team events on a school day) will be run by Woodbridge School on the following dates.
- Wednesday 4th November (14:00-16:30) – Qualifier for English Schools Chess Championship

- Wednesday 3rd February 2027 (09:00-14:30) – Primary Enrichment chess tournament
- Schools’ team event
- 4 players/team
- For Y3-Y8

- Wednesday 10th March 2027 (09:00-14:30) – Secondary Enrichment chess tournament
- 4 players/team

- The idea is to introduce chess tournament rules gently.

Junior-only Chess Tournaments – New!
Individual junior-only, ECF-rated chess tournaments will be held at Woodbridge School. Entry in advance (£25), available via Ticket Source.
- Sunday 8th November 2026 (12:00-17:00) – The 1st Woodbridge School chess tournament
- Sunday 21st March 2027 (12:00-17:00) – The 2nd Woodbridge School chess tournament
- Sunday 20th June 2027 (12:00-17:00) – The 3rd Woodbridge School chess tournament.
Junior and Adult Chess Tournaments
ECF-graded fundraiser tournaments will be run again by Dagne and International Arbiter, John Wickham, at Martlesham Heath. This time round, the events will be supporting Kesgrave High School and the Suffolk Hedgehog Hospital
Preliminary dates for planning your chess events in 2027 can be found below. In last year’s tournaments, around half of the participants were juniors.
